Staying mobile can make a significant difference to an older person’s quality of life. Being able to move around the home, prepare a meal, get dressed, attend appointments or spend time with family can help older adults maintain confidence and independence.
Sometimes a fall results in an obvious injury. In other situations, there may be no major injury, but the person becomes worried about walking, showering, using the stairs or moving around the house independently.
They may move a little slower, take longer to complete daily activities or prefer to spend more time at home. These changes do not automatically mean they need professional care.
